FAST Search Indexer warning of low disk space


 

If your FAST Search index server has devoured all of your disk space you will be receiving the following warnings:

Description:
rt_consumer: We are low on disk space, waiting for disk space to be freed.

Depending on your configuration you may be able to simply extend volume… to increase the amount of disk space available for FAST.  If you simply want to move the D:\FASTSearch\data (%FASTSEARCH%\data) folder to larger media (%NEW_LOCATION%\data) Microsoft has published a KB Article with the following steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Fast Search Server 2010 for SharePoint Shell (as Administrator)
  2. Stop the FAST Search for SharePoint service.
    1. Stop-Service FASTSearchService
  3. Stop the FAST Search for SharePoint Monitoring service.
    1. Stop-Service FASTSearchMonitoringStop-Service FastSearchService
  4. Move %FASTSEARCH%\data to the larger storage you have added.
  5. Run the following in a command prompt: mklink /j %FASTSEARCH%\data %NEW_LOCATION%\data
  6. Start the FAST Search for SharePoint Service.
    1. Start-Service FASTSearchService
    2. Start-Service FASTSearchMonitoring
